8:59pm. MVFD was dispatched with Carmel Police Department, NY to the area of 161 East Lake Blvd for a reported outside odor of gas. Companies located a 100 gallon propane tank which had started to leak along a welded seam due to it being an aging rusting tank.

Members contacted Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services Hazmat Team and they were able to safely flare off the remains of the LP gas to control the leaking hazard. All companies remained on scene for approximately 3 1/2 hrs until the process could be completed.
