On May 11, 2023 an interesting call came in on the house phone at headquarters. A group of bicyclists biking down from Canada to New York City asked if they could stay over on the lawn close to the bike path retaining wall behind the station. They were about a half hour out and exhausted. They wanted to set up tents and spend the night. Of course we would allow this but decided to go a little better. When they arrived we had them continue south on the path and meet one of our members at our station 2 on Buckshollow Rd. We figured the back yard at the station was more private and perhaps quieter. And in Mahopac fire department fashion we opened our doors so they could shower and have access to power for charging devices. They indeed set up camp and had a chance to relax. The next day we found out they left us this thank you.
