Just past noon, Mahopac Fire was dispatched to smoke in a structure on Wellington Drive. Rolling out with a complete structure assignment, Chief Jim Stasiak was first fire unit on location, assuming Incident Command. With Carmel Police Officers Garcia and Sanborn there as a welcomed police presence, Chief Stasiak called out "nothing showing", slowing down responding units. Giving it a quick size up, Lt. Brian Smith, taking on Operations and Safety, traced the smoke to a faulty ceiling fan. Fire crews checked all other possible sources before wrapping up and heading back to their respective stations. |
