On 03/09/26 at 5:31 pm MVFD was dispatched to South Lake Blvd with Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and Carmel Police Department, NY for a reported child struck by a motor vehicle while riding a bicycle.
The subject was transported for medical treatment.

While operating at the bicyclist’s struck Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services 911 and Carmel Police Department were receiving multiple calls at 5:45pm reporting a vehicle driving on the ice on Lake Mahopac with the vehicle eventually breaking through the ice causing the vehicle to submerge in the are of 228 East Lake Blvd.

Chief Trillas Car 18-1-1 who was operating at the bicyclist’s struck immediately called for mutual aid assistance from Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Department and Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD dive teams, Carmel Fire Dept. NY and Putnam County Battalion Chiefs to respond to that incident. Chief Trillas then turned over command of the bicyclist struck to his assistant Chiefs Car 18-1-2 & Car 18-1-3 and responded to the water rescue incident.

Once the drive teams arrived Rescue operation immediately went into action in locating the submerged vehicle and gaining access to the victim. The victim was removed from the vehicle and transported for medical treatment.

Because of the extended operation time for the vehicle to be removed from the water Croton Falls Fire Department & Somers Volunteer Fire Department relocated to MVFD headquarters to assist with any additional calls in the district.

MVFD would like to thank all agencies that assisted in both incidents.
