KEEPING THE TRADITIONS GOING

The fire service is built on traditions and this year we welcomed back the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department annual carnival. The carnival has had certain staples impressed upon it like the famous “Dino’s” sausage and peppers but I would like to highlight another staple that has had a permanent impression and that is Katherine Castaldo. If you have ever purchased a raffle ticket, most likely it has been from her. Katherine’s relationship comes by the way of her father who was a member of the department. You see Katherine made a promise to her father after he had passed to continue the tradition to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department by way of selling raffle tickets and ride tickets . She is “Ticket 2” nestled in the back of the fairgrounds. She is a honorary member of the department and more importantly a member of our family. So when you drive-by headquarters and see her out there, give a honk and a wave, say hello to her on the fairgrounds in Ticket 2. She is a member of our community who makes a difference. We thank you for your 30 years of dedicated service Katherine. #firetraditions #mahopacfiredepartment #mahopacny
